In and around the Radstadt vacation region, the choice of attractions and activities in summer is huge: countless vacation experiences and nature adventures in the summer sports area await you. Experience also outside of Radstadt our “small natural wonders” that make up the Salzburger Land, such as the Eisriesenwelt in Werfen, the high mountain reservoirs Kaprun, the Salzburg Salt Worlds, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the Krimmler Waterfalls and much more.
The Rossbrand (1,768m) is rightly considered one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Eastern Alps, because from the summit you can enjoy a 360° panorama of almost 150 prominent Alpine peaks: from the Dachstein in the north to the Tennen and Hagen mountains and the Großglockner to the Radstädter and Schladminger Tauern – the splendor of the Alps as far as the eye can see.
Radstadt, located 70 kilometers south of the city of Salzburg, is surrounded by high mountains and breathtaking natural scenery. Due to its central location, the small town of 5,000 inhabitants is not only an ideal starting point for hikers and cyclists, but also captivates with its historical flair.
The swimming pool in Radstadt opens daily in good weather from the end of May 2023 from 9:00 – 19:00. Heated pools & toddler pools, a 40 m long giant slide as well as a large sunbathing lawn & kiosk await you. From the center, the swimming pool is easily accessible in 8 minutes on foot.
Around Radstadt there are beautiful natural bathing lakes but also the Erlebnis-Therme Amadé in Altenmarkt. In Wagrain, the Wasserwelt Wagrain awaits you with indoor and outdoor pool areas. In 20km distance there are 4 freshwater lakes – the Reitecksee, Badesee Flauchauwinkl, Badesee Plankenau and the Waldschwimmbad in St. Johann.
The happiness of the earth is on the back of horses – so says a well-known proverb. You can also follow this during your summer vacation in Radstadt. In our region there are horse and riding stables where you can take riding lessons or enjoy a ride in the beautiful nature.

Excursion destinations in the province of Salzburg

The largest ice cave on earth is located only 30km from Radstadt. Discover a wonder of nature. In the huge ice halls you can admire the most powerful ice figures in the world. In total, the cave system extends for about 42km, part of which is open to the public during guided tours.
The Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria at 3798 meters, forms the border between the provinces of Salzburg, East Tyrol and Carinthia and is an important part of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Opened in 1935, the High Alpine Road is an experience for all.
At 380m, the Krimml Waterfalls are the fifth highest in the world and also the largest in Europe. In 3 drop stages (140m / 100m / 140m) the water shoots with enormous force into the depth. An absolutely worth seeing natural spectacle, in a unique landscape, for the whole family.
High above the Salzach Valley, between the Tennen and Hagen Mountains, towers the 900-year-old Hohenwerfen Fortress. Experience-seekers and culture enthusiasts will get their money’s worth in Hohenwerfen. The visitor can expect a variety of entertainment and offer. From guided castle tours with weapons exhibition, a stylish castle tavern, a knight’s store, the historic Landesfalkenhof with daily flight demonstrations, the 1st Austrian Landesfalkenmuseum to regularly changing special exhibitions.
Fans of rural architecture and lovers of past eras will find their Eldorado here. 60 original rural buildings from the Salzburg region can be visited in the open air. The structures were dismantled at their original locations, renovated and rebuilt true to the original. Distance a little less than an hour by car.
